Wafer Paper: The New Medium in Wedding Cake Decorating

A Summary of 2023

What happened to 2023?!

My last post was in January, and now it's January 2024. The good that came out of this is the ability to see much changes has happened, even in this Wix site. I'm using a blog post template, so much easier compared to before.

Back to Updates on Wafer Paper

Addtional techniques such as crinoline lace, different types of frills, and coloured were introduced. As well as wafer paper flowers: peony, dahlia and roses. Big flowers were attempted first because they are lightweight and able to keep the weight off cakes (preventing tilting) and for easier transportation. I still make small flowers like hydrangea, jasmine, sweetpea from gumpaste.

Most of my wedding cakes are a mixture of wafer paper and gumpaste flowers. Though some are 100% wafer paper, especially if its an all white design.

Whats in Store for 2024

Adopting wafer paper makes it easier to attempt larger cakes. I have changed my whole price list into combination cakes. These are the most economical range where only the bottom tier is real cake and the top are dummy cakes. Should more cake be required for serving, then adjustments can be made.

YouTube Channel

Subscribe to my Youtube channel NurainieTanCakes where I will be more active in the coming years. Yes, you read right, it is a long term plan. The objective of the channel is to provide a combination of education and entertainment. Insights into the process of wedding cake creation, setting up at wedding venues, and more.

Looks like a busy year ahead!
